RSVP, an invitation to serve program, is a national program that provides volunteer opportunities for people 55 and over. Local chapters throughout the country tap into the talents and skills of local citizens to assist individuals and non-profit organizations in providing services to their communities that will make a difference in the lives of their residents.
In Rutland and Addison counties, RSVP, in collaboration with more than 150 non-profit partners, designs and implements a wide variety of programs that address local issues.
Together we can make a difference. As an RSVP volunteer, your placement is based on your talents, interests, experience and availability. You’ll choose what you will do and how often you do it. We’ll make sure you have a solid orientation and training, a safe place to work, and the administrative support you need.

Share the experience of a lifetime. When you share the experience, skills and time, you help your community and yourself. You’ll reap the personal rewards that come from staying involved, as you lend support to neighbors, make new friends, and help local organizations that are sorely in need of support.
To make it easy for you to participate in one of our many programs, we provide supplemental insurance, information on specific opportunities that may interest you, and a members’ newsletter. You’ll also receive support, feedback and recognition for your work.
This is just a sampling of how you can participate: • Help students succeed in school by working as a tutor or reader, or by providing after-school enrichment. • Support frail elders and people with disabilities in living independently: drive them to appts., deliver meals, build a ramp, visit or telephone. • Share crafts and hobbies. • Be an excercise leader in an RSVP Bone Builders class. • Assist with the RSVP Operation Dolls and More Program. • Enable a local non-profit organization whose work you value to provide more direct service: assist with clerical, phone, bookkeeping, accounting or computer work; serve on the board. • Ensure people’s basic needs are met: serve meals at soup kitchen; knit warm clothing for youngsters; assist at a local drop-in center, thrift shop or homeless shelter. • Assist other seniors in preparing taxes or provide computer instruction to community members. |
