Want to polish up your computer skills and help others? Many nonprofit organizations are looking for office assistance, including data entry. Most are willing to train if you have some basic knowledge and motivation. A few hours of filing or photocopying or paper shredding or just answering the phone frees agencies’ staffs to serve their clients better. Support your favorite cause—women and children, environment and reuse, hunger, community development.

Winter can put stress on families and that is reflected in the needs of the many social service agencies in the area. You can help support the staff and mission of an organization by providing administrative back up or, in some cases, direct work with clients in day care, schools, after school programs and nursing homes. Your energy, interest and enthusiasm are needed at this time of year!
